What is this site about?

This site was founded in 2002 because Philip Morris Companies Inc. (they changed their name to "Altria" to avoid their own namesake) owned DOZENS of household food product lines such as Kraft and Nabisco. At the time, every dollar earned through the purchase of Oscar Meyer hot dogs for your kid was another dollar Altria could use to market their cigarette products to your kids (only if they are over 18, or so they claim), block legislation, hire lobbyists, quash product lawsuits etc. etc.

Altria (and the other Big Tobacco companies) contribute to the death of over 450,000 Americans (and 4.5 million others worldwide, according to Oct 2002 figures by the World Health Organization) and suffering of millions more each and every year.

On March 30, 2007, Altria officially spun off its 89% stake in Kraft (and 97%+ of the common share voting power) to its shareholders. Therefore, we have lifted our personal boycott of Kraft brands. We don't feel compelled to rush out and buy these, though. The past several years have shown us that we can get equally good (if not better) products from competitors or "store brands" at a substantially lower price. And no doubt, a good portion of those who received their Kraft shares are still holding onto their Altria shares.

Big Tobacco still has its deadly finger in the beer industry. Below is our much shorter list of products we refuse to purchase as they benefit Big Tobacco. We wish everyone would be a smart shopper and avoid subsidizing these homicidal companies.^2,3 The next section contains a list of companies that we boycott when we go shopping. We provide the list here for those who have asked who we personally boycott.^1-3
